Mama Shelter Roma is a 217-room hotel in Trionfale, north of the Vatican, with eclectic interiors by Benjamin El Doghaïli.
Mama Shelter Roma opened in 2021 as the brand’s first Italian hotel, in a tower-block building in Trionfale, just north of the Vatican. Designer Benjamin El Doghaïli of Mama Design Studio led the 217 rooms over six floors, with cartoon goddesses on ceilings and emperors and pizzas woven into the carpets.
Rooms feature king-size beds, 55-inch smart TVs, Absolution organic bath products and the brand’s signature cartoon masks on the bedside lamps. Mosaic floors and ceiling artwork by graphic designer Beniloys.
Three restaurants serve Mediterranean fare and wood-fired pizzas. Mama Baths - the brand’s first spa - features an indoor pool, sauna and hammam. The rooftop bar overlooks St Peter’s Basilica.
Set in Trionfale, the residential district north of the Vatican. The Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Basilica are within walking distance.
